Whoever paid posts the total once. Everyone else replies with their share, in the same thread, and each reply is money that has actually moved rather than a promise to sort it out later.

Solutions

The small mercy is that a double-tapped reply on a bad connection still pays once. The other one is that nobody has to be chased: the thread shows who has paid and who has not, so the person who put their card down never has to be the one bringing it up again.
