What is Perch?
A way to pay someone by replying to them on X. You write one line under a post — an amount, a currency, and who it is for — and the money is with them in seconds. Perch answers in the same thread with a link to the payment.
Does the other person need to sign up too?
Yes — both of you sign in with X, once. It takes about ten seconds and there is nothing to install. If they have not done it yet, tell them to sign in and the money is waiting for them when they do.
What can I send?
USDG, which is a dollar — send 25 and they get 25 dollars. ETH works too if you would rather send that. Both move on Robinhood Chain, which is why they arrive in seconds.
Does it cost anything to be paid?
No. The person being paid needs no balance, no other currency and no top-up, and nothing is taken off what was sent. Sign in with X and the full amount is simply there.
What if I type the reply wrong?
Perch refuses anything it is not certain about and says why, in the thread. It will not round an amount, pick a currency for you, or send to the closest matching handle. Fix the line, post it again, and it goes.
How long does it take?
Seconds, once Perch has seen your reply. Nothing is reported as sent until the money has actually arrived, so when the reply says it is done, it is done.
Can I check a payment myself?
That is what the link in the reply is for. Open it and you can see the payment, the amount and both sides of it, without taking our word for anything.
